L-01 TRANTER single shot break action rook rifle in 320 RF,
serial No. 58817, 25" barrel. Retailed by T.W.Watson. 4 Pall Mall, London.
cartridge ejected when action is opened, Bone tipped forewood, swivel mounts on
barrel and stock, two leaf rear sight sighted to 80 yards, line engraving on
frame.
L-02 SMLE No.6 Mk 1/1, Jungle carbine in .303 CF, serial No.XP238, 10 round
magazine, 20.25" barrel. Australian experimental carbine made by LITHGOW
S.A.F. in 1945, only 50 rifles were made in this configuration,
L-03 WINCHESTER Model 06 in .22 RF, 19.5" barrel. Serial No.772138 on
barrel, serial No.782787 on action, designed to take short, long and long rifle
cartridges, magazine capacity being 15 12 and 11 respectively,
L-04 MANNLICHER CARCANO Model 1938 in 6.5 MM CF, serial No.7725, 20.9"
barrel. Developed at the Italian government arsenal at Turin by M. Carcano. Is
actually a modified mauser with a mauser type bolt. The magazine is fixed
mannlicher type fed with a six round clip which stays in the magazine until the
last round is chambered. Marked "1940 XIX" and made at Terni arsenal.
The fixed rear sight is sighted to 300 metres.
L-05 SMLE No.5 Mk 1 Jungle carbine in .303 CF, serial No.AA3273, 10 round
magazine, 20.5" barrel. Manufactured in 1947.
L-06 SMLE No.1 Mk 111*H rifle in .303 CF, serial No.34694, 10 round
magazine, 25" barrel. Made in 1943 at LITHGOW S.A.F., Special heavy duty
barrel and furniture, these barrels were only produced at Lithgow.

Richards number 8077 on top of barrel and "Henry's rifling A&T 5118
450 CF" on left hand side, marked "Martinis patent" on frame,

No.31122, 21.5" barrel. cartridge extracted manually with slide, Foliate
engraved, sighted to 100 yards, covered by British patent 2113 of 1866,
L-14 TRANTER single shot break action rook rifle in .22 RF, serial No.12363,
26" barrel. Retailed by Army & Navy C.S.L. London. cartridge ejected
when action is opened, Tapered round barrel, pronounced pistol grip stock,
nickel plated frame, sighted to 200 yards, possibly made by Tranters nephews
trading as Tranter Bros circa 1900,

No.61793, 26" barrel. Retailed by Watson Bros. Pall mall London. Cartridge
ejected when action is opened, pistol grip stock, octagonal barrel with engine
turned top flat, horn tipped forewood, bouquet and scroll engraved, fitted with
sling eyes,
L-16 ENFIELD Martini Artillery Carbine in 577/450 CF, single shot, 21"
barrel. Marked NSW A 168 and Police No 201, indicating use by both the
Artillery and the Police.
L-17 ENFIELD Mk 1* Lee Enfield Carbine in .303 CF, serial No.2719, 6 round
magazine, 20.5" barrel. Manufactured in 1899, Fitted with magazine cut-off
and leather rear sight protector.
L-18 TRANTER single shot hinged block rook rifle in .380 CF, serial
No.19358, 26" barrel. Retailed by I.Hollis & Son. London. Straight
hand stock, octagonal barrel,
L-19 WINCHESTER Model 92 lever action rifle in 25.20 CF, serial No.957662, 6
round magazine, 24" barrel. Manufactured in 1926, Fitted with rare
stainless steel barrel, these barrels were brought out to combat corrosion
problems, but proved unpopular because they could not be blued, purchased from
Sil Rohu in Sydney, 1/2 magazine,
L-20 MANNLICHER CARCANO Model 1938 in 6.5 MM CF, serial No.AZ5071,
20.9" barrel. Developed at the Italian government arsenal at Turin by M. Carcano.

barrel. Unusual automatic cartridge extracting action.
L-22 MAUSER Verguerio Mod 904/M39 service rifle in 7.92 MM CF, serial
No.F8948, 5 round magazine, 23.62" barrel. Designed by Verguerio, a
Portuguese officer and made by DWM for the Portuguese government. magazine
floorplate hinged to facilitate unloading, mannlicher type bolt, marked on
receiver ring "C1" for king Carlos 1 Espingarda Portugueza, converted
from 6.5 mm model 1904 Verguerio by reboring and rechambering to 7.92 mm,
shortening the barrel and fore-end and modifying the sights, receiver markings
were not changed.
L-23 MAUSER Verguerio Mod 904/M39 service rifle in 7.92 MM CF, serial No.A3262,
5 round magazine, 23.62" barrel. Designed by Verguerio, a Portuguese
officer and made by DWM for the Portuguese government. magazine floorplate
hinged to facilitate unloading, mannlicher type bolt, marked on receiver ring
"C1" for king Carlos 1 Espingarda Portugueza, converted from 6.5 mm
model 1904 Verguerio by reboring and rechambering to 7.92 mm, shortening the
barrel and fore-end and modifying the sights, receiver markings were not
changed.
L-24 SMLE (LITHGOW),No 1 Mk 111* service rifle in .303 CF, serial No.59538,
10 round magazine, 25" barrel.
L-25 MAUSER Model 24 carbine, serial No.2439, 5 round magazine, 18.25"
barrel. Made by F.N. of Belgium for the Columbian government. Converted in 1957
to 30.06 to simplify ammunition supply when Colombia acquired a number of M1
rifles. Receiver ring has a rounded cut to clear the 30.06 bullet point.
L-26 REMINGTON Springfield Model 1903 service rifle in .30 CF, serial
No.3248921, 5 round fixed magazine with magazine cut off, 24" barrel. leaf
rear sight fitted with windage adjustment screw.
L-27 FABREIGE NATIONAL FN49 self loading service rifle in 7.92 MM CF, serial
No.10539, 10 round magazine, 23.2" barrel. Often referred to as SAFN which
stands for semiautomatic FN. Developed by Dieudonne Saive prior to the second
world war. Gas operated.

L-28 MOSIN NAGANT,Model 1944G Carbine in 7.62 MM CF, serial No.AG9090, 5
round fixed magazine with hinged floorplate, 20.4" barrel. permanently
attached folding bayonet. Action developed by Colonel S.I. Mosin of the
Imperial Russian Army and magazine developed by Nagant, a Belgian. An
interrupter/ejector plate is used to prevent double feeding, no other rifle
needs or uses this device.

L-37 MOSIN NAGANT Model 1891/30 service rifle in 7.62 MM CF, serial
No.CC6454, 28.7" barrel. 5 round fixed magazine with hinged floorplate.
Action developed by Colonel S.I. Mosin of the Imperial Russian Army and

23.6" barrel. Made by F.N. of Belgium for the Columbian government.
Converted in 1957 to 30.06 to simplify ammunition supply when Colombia acquired

L-54 MAUSER model Kar 98a carbine in 7.92 MM CF, serial No.2113, 5 round
magazine, 23.62" barrel. made at Erfurt arsenal in 1917, adopted in 1908
as Kar 98 carbine and officially designated carbine 98a later after other model
98 carbines were introduced, the "a" does not appear on the weapon,
issued to German artillery units, turned down bolt handle, stock cut to provide
clearance for grasping handle, hook on lower side of fore-end is for stacking,
lug on front sight is for muzzle cover and also for a 6.5" long flash
hider, there is no provision for a cleaning rod,
L-55 MANNLICHER CACARNO Model 1891 in 6.5 MM CF, serial No.D6955, 18"
barrel. Permanently attached folding bayonet, Developed at the Italian
government arsenal at Turin by M. Carcano. Is actually a modified mauser with a
mauser type bolt. The magazine is fixed mannlicher type fed with a six round
clip which stays in the magazine until the last round is chambered. Made at
Terni arsenal and marked "AT35 XIV". Tangent rear sight sighted to
1500 metres fitted with auxiliary battle sight.

L-72 LJUNGMAN self loading service rifle in 6.5 MM CF, serial No.8366B, 10
round magazine, 24.5" barrel. Manufactured in 1943.

L-73 MAUSER (CHILEAN) Model 1895 service rifle in 7 MM CF, serial No.4596, 5
round magazine, 29.5" barrel. Manufactured by Loewe, Berlin.
L-74 MAUSER Model 98k carbine in 7.62 MM CF, serial No.3735, 5 round
magazine, 23.62" barrel. Manufactured by Gustloff Werke, Werk Weimar in
1943. Cocked on bolt opening unlike earlier mausers. Locking screws added to
guard screws to prevent them from vibrating loose. Notch in bolt cocking piece
allows for manual cocking with the aid of a cartridge rim. Cleaning rod is only
half barrel length. When end of cleaning was hooked onto rods of other rifles
it served the purpose of rifle stacking. Tube and washer device in butt stock
is used to disassemble the firing mechanism. "k" stands for
"kurz" meaning short. Converted to 7.62mm NATO by the Israeli Army
and used in the 1956 Suez crisis.
L-75 CHINESE communist type 56 self loading carbine in 7.62 MM CF, serial
No.1306651, 15 round fixed magazine, 20.5" barrel. Copy of the Soviet SKS
its action being a scaled down version of the 14.5 mm PTRS antitank rifle.

Marked on one barrel Cashmore maker Birmingham and (cant read) 1887 Melbourne
1888 on other barrel,
L-77 PAGET flintlock cavalry carbine in .66 bore,single shot, 15.5"
barrel. Manufactured circa 1810. named after General Sir Henry Paget,
introduced for cavalry service about 1808 and was the primary arm for mounted
troops for 30 years, equipped with a swivel mounted ramrod, side bar and ring
fitting,

L-85 HOLLIS double barrel shotgun in 12 gauge, 32" barrels. Marked
Hollis & Son Eng.
L-86 MAUSER model 38 short service rifle in 6.5 mm, serial No.208114. 5
round magazine, 23.60" barrel. Manufactured by Carl Gustafs City Rifle
Factory, Sweden in 1907. Hole in front barrel band for attaching a monopod
rest. Barrel threaded to take a blank firing device. Metal disc on butt detailing
organisational, sighting and other data, on of the first mausers to be so
equipped. Decal on side of butt gives sight setting data for model 41 Swedish
pointed boattail cartridge as sight was calibrated for the model 94 German
round nose cartridge. Rear sight fitted with rotary disc elevation adjuster
made by the Swedish firm of Metalluerken giving fine adjustment from 250 to
over 600 metres. Horizontal bolt handle model was issued to infantry.
L-87 MAUSER model 43 short rifle in 7.92 MM, serial No.E8717. 5 round fixed
magazine. 23.62" barrel. Manufactured in 1946 by the Spanish Government
Arms Factory in La Coruna, Spain. Auxiliary bayonet lug permits use of older
model bayonet. Sling swivels on bottom of rifle and a swivel and sling attaching
bar on left side adapt rifle for both infantry and mounted use. Fascist symbol
on butt.
